Club Hosts the Human Trafficking Movie “Sold” in May

The Movie "Sold"

GFWC North Myrtle Beach Woman’s Club will host a presentation of the movie “Sold” at the Carmike 12 Theatre (10177 North Kings Hwy., Myrtle Beach, S.C.) on Wednesday, May 3rd at 6:30 PM to 8:15 PM. The club is bringing the movie to our area to bring awareness to our communities about human trafficking.

The public is invited to attend this exclusive, one-night only showing of this insightful and chilling movie, based on the international bestselling novel by Patricia McCormick, and inspired by true accounts.

This is the story of a young girl, who journeys from a rural village in Nepal to a gritty brothel-prison in India. The film illustrates the brutality of child trafficking, which affects millions of children around the globe every year.

Globally the average age of a trafficked girl is thirteen. GFWC-NMBWC hopes this will be a call to action and educate viewers to address the crime locally and nationally.

Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased online at https://www.tugg.com/events/sold-nltf.

If you would like more information or have questions, please contact the “Sold” project chairperson at 815 322-6623.
